Our shooting ground...

At Chessgrove shooting ground we have 7 stands, each with two clay traps to choose from. The shoot ground itself is gravel pathways and paved flooring within the shoot stands for extra safety. There is an area under cover for observation and shelter.

Each clay trap will launch the clay into the air in a specific direction, all different to each other. These vary from an easy target option and gradually increase in difficulty.

We generally start with the easiest clays, depending on your level of experience, then move on to high clays overhead, going away, teal, left and right crosses and on to the evasive bolting rabbit clay.

There is something available for everyone from the novice to the more experienced shot.

Events...

We cater for hen / stag / birthday parties, corporate days, one on one tuition to learn from scratch or improve on your skills and simulated days for the more experienced shot.

The simulated shooting days are based around the close farm land and is a superb day out for a group of friends shooting like a formal driven day but without the expense, you’d expect to shoot about 300-500 shots. All guns, cartridges, clays and hearing protection are provided (except for simulated days where you will bring your own and your licence).

Gift Vouchers are available for any occasion, plus we are stockists for Brattonsound Gun Cabinets and various brands of gun cartridges.

Sunday Mornings is our open mornings from 10am – 1pm. Anyone who has their own gun and licence can come along, meet other likeminded people and shoot clays within the ground as little or much as they like.

Our Customers say...

We had an absolutely brilliant time shooting. We went for a 30th birthday we were fed and watered very nicely. They catered to our dietary requirements perfectly. Bob was such a good teacher we had a really good time with him and felt right at home. the atmosphere was so lovely. It was the highlight of the weekend, they gave us recommendations on where to eat that night and what else to do whilst we were in the area. A wonderful, fun, friendly atmosphere. i would recommend to everyone.

We'd been riding our mountain bikes in the FOD over the bank holiday weekend and fancied giving our legs a rest on the Monday. Saw the signs for Chessgrove on the way back to digs and gave them a call. None of us had shot for a few years so were a little apprehensive to start with But Steve and his story's soon put us at ease and got us back in the groove. We had a great session culminating with Simon Bagging the double off one shot .. He didn't get any rabbits though did he ;] .. If your thinking of this type of experience I really could not recommend Steve and the ground any higher . Thanks again capped a great weekend in the Forest !
